Moabi’s heartwood is pink to dark red-brown and is clearly definable from the 40-60 mm thick sapwood which is coloured light pink to grey-brown. Mobai has a uniform structure, often with no distinguishing marks. But because the grain can vary somewhat, Moabi can show more or less regular streaks or an attractive moiré effect.
