There are more species hardwood suitable for mooring piles. The most common ones for mooring piles are Azobé (Ekki), Basralocus (Angelique) Greenheart and Cloeziana. Mooring piles are usually found in yachting harbours, but in the more heavier sections also used for fendering. The Basralocus (Angelique) mooring piles can be supplied either sawn or square hewn.
Where to put Mooring piles
Mooring piles can be used in salt, brackish or fresh water as all species are proven resistant to Gribble.
As the wood is not impregnated it is environmentally friendly and keeps boats clean. Therefore a sustainable alternative in sizes and possible lengths at reasonable cost. Lengths can vary between 8 and 18 m¹
